This is the sarcophagus of Pope Martin V (1368-1431) – set in a “confessio” right in front of the high altar, in the St. John Lateran Archbasilica.
The interest of this almost 700 year old tomb is that visitors frequently toss money into the enclosure as prayer-petitions or as a sign of prayers answered.
